Difference and application of CC1101, CC1100E and CC1150 module
Summary
CC1101, CC1100E and CC1150 are three RF chips for sub 1G band launched by TI at different times, which can be used in the free band below 1GHz of ISM. The radio modules made of these three ICs are widely used. Now, the performance, power consumption, transmission rate, sensitivity and frequency range of these three chips are preliminarily compared; And introduces the usage of radio modules made of these three ICs.
CC1101 and CC1150 can be applied to 433M module band in China, 868M module band in Europe and 915M band in the United States.
CC1100E is applicable to the meter reading frequency band 470M-510MHz in China and the free frequency band 950-960MHz in Japan.

Circuit comparison
CC1101
The CC1101 module peripheral circuit is simple and supports 300-348MHz, 387-464MHz and 779-928MHz frequency bands. The RF interface adopts differential mode. The SPI interface can be directly connected to the IO port of the MCU for control.
The application circuit diagram of CC1101 module is as follows:
CC1100E
The circuits of CC1100E and CC1101 are similar. The peripheral circuits are simple, but the frequency bands supported are different. CC1100E supports 470-510 MHz and 950-960 MHz. The RF interface adopts differential mode. The control interface can be directly connected to the IO port of MCU for control.
The simple application circuit diagram of CC1100E module is as follows:
CC1150
The application circuit of cc1150 is slightly simpler than that of cc1101 and cc1100E. The supported frequency bands are 300 to 348 MHz, 400 to 464 MHz, and 800 to 928 MHz. The peripheral circuit is simpler. The RF interface adopts differential mode. The control interface can be directly connected to the IO port of MCU.
The simple application circuit diagram of cc1150 module is as follows:
Application range comparison
1.The radio modules developed with CC1101 and CC1150 support the internationally accepted free ISM frequency bands of 434MHz, 868MHz and 915MHz, while the radio modules developed with CC1100E independently support the meter reading frequency bands of 470M-510MHz in China and 950-960MHz in Japan.
2.All of them are suitable for occasions with low transmission distance requirements. If a long transmission distance is required, the circuit needs to add palna.
3. CC1101 and cc1100e are pin to pin qfn24 packages, which can directly switch the frequency band without changing the PCB design, only changing the capacitance and inductance element parameters. The cc1150 is a qfn20 pin package and cannot share the PCB design with cc1101 and cc1100E. However, the design of the RF part is the same as that of cc1101.
4. The cc1101 and the cc1150 may communicate with each other.
Software workflow
The software workflow of cc1150, cc1101 and cc1100E is almost the same, and the software does not need major changes.
Summary
1. CC1101 module has a wide range of applications, suitable for 434MHz, 868MHz, 915MHz ISM free band, etc., and can replace cc1150 module.
2. Cc1100E module is only applicable to the meter reading frequency band 470M-510MHz in China and the free frequency band 950-960MHz in Japan.
